Lut Desert (Dasht-e Lut)

The Lut Desert, widely referred to as Dasht-e Lut (located in the south-east of Iran) is a large salt desert located in Iran. It is the world’s 27th-largest desert, and was inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Lut Desert in Iran is the hottest spot on Earth.

 

Dasht-e Kavir

Dasht-e Kavir also known as Kavir-e Namak and the Great Salt Desert, is a large desert lying in the middle of the Iranian plateau. With a total surface area of about 77,600 km2 (30,000 sq. mi), making it the Earth’s 26th largest desert.

The area of this desert stretches from the Alborz mountain range in the north-west to the Dasht-e Lut in the south-east.

It is partitioned amongthe Iranian provinces of Khorasan, Semnan, Tehran, Isfahan and Yazd.

In the western part of the desert lies the Daryahcheh-e Namak (“salt lake). It contains some large salt plates in a mosaic-like shape. One of the most desolate parts of Dasht-e Kavir is the Rig-e Jenn  (“devil’s dunes)

 

Maranjab Desert

The Maranjab Desert is located in Aran va Bidgol, Iran and around 60 km north-east of Kashan (Isfahan province). Maranjab is one of the most beautiful desert regions of Iran. Average height of Desert is about 850 meters up to sea. The bulk of Desert is covered with sandy hills and Sabulous. The desert was a part of the famous Silk Road that used to connect Europe and China in times past. The name is derived from a Ramesh word that refers to the freshwater canals in the desert.

There is an ancient historical place in this desert, that’s name is Maranjab Caravanserai. History of that dated back to 350 years ago and safavid period. This beautiful and  famous caravanserais , was built by the order of Shah Abbas Safavid. Today Maranjab caravanserai is used as a guest house.
